The Department holds two types of workshops, the Developing Program Workshop (DPW) and the Self-study Workshop (SSW). These workshops occur over a period of two days and are held annually prior to the following APTA events:
ATTENTION: CAPTE has canceled the on-site workshops that were to be held at ELC 2020 due to COVID-19. All individuals that were registered for the workshops will be receiving full refunds. In place of the on-site workshops, CAPTE will be hosting a series of virtual workshops for PT, PTA, and developing programs. The cost of each virtual workshop series has been reduced to $20 due to the impact of COVID-19 on programs. The webinars will be recorded and registered participants will have access to the recorded series and continuing education credits through the APTA Learning Center. The workshops are scheduled as follows. Registration information, when available, will be emailed to all program directors.

JUST FOR YOUR PROGRAM (or those around you):
Accreditation staff are not currently scheduling workshops for individual programs.
In addition to the developing and self-study workshops provided at CSM and ELC, CAPTE staff can provide these workshops at your physical location. If interested, you might want to consider inviting programs in your surrounding area. At this time the fee for staff to provide a self-study workshop at a program is calculated at $2,600 per staff member for the first day and $600 per staff member for each additional day. If staff are unable to attend and Commissioners conduct the workshop, an additional $150 per Commissioner per day is added. If interested in such a workshop, please reach out to the Lead Specialist to discuss.
IMPORTANT NOTICES FOR DEVELOPING PROGRAMS:
The Program Director and at least one appropriate representative of the institution must attend an entire Developing Program Workshop prior to submission of the Application for Candidacy.
This workshop is held for two days, from 8:30am – 5:00pm day one, and on day two the workshop will end at 3:30pm. (Registrants can no longer register for DPW and SSW workshops together.)
The purpose of the DPW is to inform institutional representatives about CAPTE’s process, the requirements for developing a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant education program, and minimum expectations for achieving Candidate for Accreditation status. The content of this workshop will focus on CAPTE’s rules and procedures, and developing an Application for Candidacy, and will also provide an in-depth review of CAPTE’s Standards and Required Elements.
