APTA's Accreditation Department holds two types of workshops: Self-study Workshops and Developing Program Workshops. Both workshops are held three times a year, prior to APTA's Annual Conference, Combined Sections Meeting, and Education Leadership Conference. There is no charge for these workshops; however, all hotel and travel costs are your own responsibility. There is also no limit on how many or how often individuals from a given program can attend.
Self-study Workshop
This workshop is designed to assist program faculty, administrators/directors, and administrative staff to develop a Self-study Report and host an on-site visit. In addition to addressing the accreditation process, the workshop focuses on CAPTE's expectations for select criteria. Although the workshop is designed for accredited programs, it provides information needed for the development of the program and the Application for Candidacy. Intended Audience: Program directors and faculty, academic administrators and administrative staff from accredited and developing programs.
Developing Program Workshop
Held prior to the Self-study Workshop to facilitate attending both workshops, this workshop is designed to provide information for institutions in the initial stage of development. Intended Audience: Program directors and faculty, academic administrators, administrative staff and consultants from developing programs.
The program director and at least one appropriate representative of the institution must attend an entire Developing Program Workshop prior to submission of the Application for Candidacy. Institutional representatives may want to attend the workshop during the early phases of program development, e.g., during the feasibility study prior to hiring a program director, so as to be better informed about the candidacy process and the expectations for candidacy.
Workshop Dates, Schedule and Registration
Developing Program Workshops (DPW) are scheduled from 2-6 pm on the first day and 8:30 am-12:30 pm on the second day. Attendance at both DPW sessions is required to meet the requirement of attendance at a Developing Program Workshop. The session on the second day is held in conjunction with the Self-study Workshop.
No confirmations will be sent after registering. Please print out the confirmation page at the end of the registration survey. It is important to register by the deadline indicated below for each workshop. It is preferable to register for the workshop and then cancel, than register after the deadline.

The confirmation page at the end of the registration process also provides a link to workshop materials and updated workshop information, including hotel information, when available. This URL will also be e-mailed to you approximately 2 weeks prior to the workshop when additional program materials will be available. No handouts will be provided at the workshop; you are responsible for bringing workshop materials with you.
